Biography
Born April 5, 1973, Pharrell Williams is a professional, American producer, writer, musician, fashion designer and media personality from Virginia Beach, Virginia.
The oldest of three sons, at age 12, Pharrell would meet Filipino-American, Chad Hugo at a summer band camp for gifted children. The two friends (along with Shay Haley and Mike Etheridge) formed the band the Neptunes. While in high school, the pair would write the double-platinum selling song “Rump Shaker”, for the band Wreckx-N-Effect, before signing with producer Teddy Riley. Williams and Hugo eventually charted 24, Top 10 Billboard songs, making the Neptunes production duo one of the most successful in history.
The artist, also known as Skateboard P, has written and produced for childhood friend Timmy Tim (Timbaland), Missy Elliot, Noreaga, Babyface, LL Cool J, Beyonce, Gwen Stefani, Nelly, Jay Z, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Usher, Madonna, Ludacris, Gloria Estefan, Robin Thicke, Justin Tiberlake, the Rolling Stones, Mariah Carey and Britney Spears. He is a 7-time Grammy Award winner (2004 x 2, 2007, 2014 x 4) and was voted “Best Dressed Man in the World” in 2005 by Esquire. In 2001, he would form the concept band N.E.R.D. (No-one Ever Really Dies) as a side project from the Neptunes. Often seen in his signature Vivienne Westwood hat, he has co-designed jewelry for Louis Vuitton and in 2005, launched the Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream clothing brands. He was ranked by Forbes as the 14th Highest-Paid Hip-Hop artist in the world in 2013, earning over $9 million.

In 2008, Pharrell founded From One Hand to AnOTHER to provide children with an augmented learning experience featuring science, technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics, and Motivation. He built the Pharrell Williams Resource Center, a $35 million afterschool center in Virgina Beach and has supported charities such as Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation, Got Your 6, Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Soledad O’Brien & Brad Raymond Foundation.
Williams married model and designer Helen Lasichanh in 2013 and is father to their son Rocket Man. In early 2014, he joined reality television show The Voice, replacing CeeLo Green as coach.
