Born June 8, 1977, Kanye Omari West is a professional American singer / songwriter / producer / businessman. Son of Dr. Donda West, a former English professor, Kanye attended Chicago State University before dropping out to pursue a career in music.
Having produced songs for both Jay Z and Beyonce, West’s own album, The College Dropout, was delayed after he suffered a fractured jaw from a car accident. The 21-time Grammy Award winner has had six #1 albums; he created the women’s fashion label DW Kanye West and designed footwear for Adidas. In May 2014, West wed socialite Kim Kardashian.
In 2005, the hip hop artist established the Kanye West Foundation, which aimed to reduce high school dropout rates. The foundation raised an average of $492,000 in the three years 2007, 2008 and 2009, with total yearly distributions averaging $18,080 during the same period. He has supported Habitat for Humanity, the Red Cross, Robin Hood and Stand Up To Cancer.

“God chose me. He made a path for me. I am God’s vessel. But my greatest pain in life is that I will never be able to see myself perform live.”
