Born September 4, 1981, Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter is a professional American singer / songwriter / actress. At age nine, Beyoncé, LaTavia Roberson and cousin Kelendria “Kelly” Rowland formed the girl group that would later be known as Destiny’s Child.
The 17-time Grammy winner (2001 x 2, 2002, 2004 x 5, 2006, 2007, 2010 x 6, 2013), has sold over 32 million records worldwide, was named Forbes, Most Powerful Celebrity (2014) and one of Time’s 100 Most Influential People (2014). On April 4, 2008 she married rap artist / producer Jay-Z.
Beyoncé (and Rowland) established the Survivor Foundation to support Houston residence displaced by Hurricane Katrina. She also supports the Knowles-Rowland Center for Youth, BeyGood Foundation, the Hope for Haiti Now telethon and Goodwill charities.
